Ancient Vedic literature recommends that we incorporate into our lifestyle a program of self-examination and steady inner growth, based on spiritual strength and clarity of thought. Calming the mind is essential to any clarity of thought and it is believed that reciting Shanti (Peace) Mantras not only calm the mind of the reciter but also the environment around us.
This will be an evening of learning word-by-word 1 Shanti mantra from the Upanishads and ending with peaceful OṂ chanting. You will learn the nuances of Sanskrit grammar that influence the correct pronunciation of these mantras.
This mantra for peace is recited in the context of study, to protect both the student and teacher from all the unknown variables we have no knowledge or control over. I hope this session will help you understand the significance of prayer in the Vedic context.
All levels are welcome.
