On April 2nd, India celebrates Rāma Navamī, the birthday of the leading star of the epic Rāmāyaṇa who was the 7th avatār of Lord Viṣṇu.
In this session, I will give an introduction to the famous Viṣṇu Sahasranāma, the hymn of 1000 names of Viṣṇu. A beautiful verse on Rāma appears in this hymn:
śrirāma rāma rāmeti rame rāme manorame,
sahasranāma tattulyaṃ rāmanāma varānane.
Meaning:
In chanting his name again and again, ‘śrirāma rāma rāma’, I discover joy in Lord Rāma who pleases my heart and whose face is a blessing. His name is equal to the one thousand names of Lord Viṣṇu! (Swami Dayananda Saraswati)
I will explain the meaning of Rāma and why the repetition of His name is a joyful practice. Join us for repeating this beautiful verse 108 times!
You don’t need any previous experience in Sanskrit or chanting and this session will be accessible to all levels. Beginners are most welcome!
Session fee: 15EUR, booking obligatory through ticket link.
