The Puruṣa is consciousness, caitanya, the truth of the unmanifest. This Puruṣa is presented in a hymn of praise in this popular Ṛg Veda mantra, which is a description of the Puruṣa. We repeat the glory of Īśvara everyday by chanting this sūktam. In doing so, we also recognise that the Puruṣa is the self, ātman.

There is nothing higher than the puruṣa, I am not separate from the puruṣa; I am not a separate entity. The entire knowledge of the upaniṣads is contained in the Puruṣa sūktam.

Chanting the Puruṣa Sūktam regularly neutralises the sense of ownership and our erroneous I-sense, ahaṅkāra, slowly goes away. This sūktam is a prayer repeated daily, towards that end. The daily pārāyaṇa (chanting) helps us establish a certain relationship with Īśvara.

In this course of 9 lessons between January & March 2022, we will meticulously learn the recitation of this Sūktam with a high level meaning. As aspiring yogīs working towards understanding our true nature, this hymn will become a powerful prayer in our yogic journey.

Intermediate – students should have knowledge of rules of Veda chanting and practice of at least some short mantra-s at the beginner level. This course is suitable for all students who have completed the Foundation course in Vedic chanting.

• 9 LIVE Zoom classes included. Course will be taught on Zoom. Each week, participants will receive the replay link (recording) from the class, which will be available for the entire duration of the course. Therefore, if you miss a class, you can catch up with the recording.
• A workbook is provided – in English transliteration & Devanagari along with meanings & detailed phonetic guides (and brief meaning).
• Self-paced course included. All students will receive lifetime access to the Puruṣa Sūktam (175€ value) self-paced course on the Veda Studies online platform – with audio and video recordings for practice in between classes. This will be your study companion through the course and for future practice after course completion as well.
• Zoom details will be sent to registered participants.
• Course fee includes also evaluation of 1 recording (If students are unable to attend the live classes, weekly recordings can be agreed to ensure learning).
