Ancient Vedic literature recommends that we incorporate into our lifestyle a program of self-examination and steady inner growth, based on spiritual strength and clarity of thought. Calming the mind is essential to any clarity of thought and it is believed that reciting Shanti (Peace) Mantras not only calm the mind of the reciter but also the environment around us.
This will be an evening of learning word-by-word 1 Shanti mantra from the Upanishads and ending with peaceful OṂ chanting. You will learn the nuances of Sanskrit grammar that influence the correct pronunciation of these mantras.
This extraordinary verse leaves nothing out, has everything! With just a few potent words, it expresses the entire vision of the Upaniṣads, the truth of oneself. While this session will not be able to achieve unfolding of that entire vision, I hope to offer you a little stepping stone towards that oneness, with some practice of the pronunciation!
All levels are welcome.
