Kaṭha upaniṣad – with Neema & Surya
June 14 @ 5:30 pm - June 16 @ 5:30 pm€190 – €230
A beautiful teaching from exceptional teachers Neema and Surya who will visit us from India to share their extensive knowledge in Vedanta.
Kaṭha Upaniṣad is in the form of a dialogue between Lord of Death (Yama) and a young boy called Nachiketa. The teaching begins when a brilliant and discerning Nachiketa asks Yama: “There is doubt amongst people about what happens after death. Some say there is a self that survives the body. Some say there is no such self at all.” He then asks Lord Yama to teach him about the true nature of I. Lord Yama, first tests him to ensure that Nachiketa is a mature person who deserves this knowledge. He then unfolds to Nachiketa the true nature of ‘I’ as free from limitations, not subject to birth or death. The teaching from an outstanding teacher like Yama blesses Nachiketa to gain the final freedom that all of us are searching for. We will explore this teaching through selected verses from this text.
Neema Majumudar & Surya Tahora have studied with Swami Dayananda Saraswati, renowned scholar of Vedanta. Both have gone through intensive courses of Vedanta studying texts such as the Upanishads, Bhagavad Gita and many scriptures in great depth with the commentaries of Śankara, and the Pāṇini system of Sanskrit grammar. They have been teaching Vedanta in India and abroad for several years. You can read more about their work on their website: http://www.discovervedanta.com/
