Join us for an evening of understanding the significance of the very famous mantra Oṃ namaḥ śivāya
I will explain briefly the source, significance and importance of this mantra. From the Yajur Veda’s most powerful hymn to Lord Śiva-Rudra, Oṃ namaḥ śivāya is an extract, called the Śiva pañcākṣarī or the five-syllabled mantra.
It is said that chanting Oṃ namaḥ śivāya is as good as chanting the whole Veda! Śiva means maṅgala, happy end, the grand finale. Salutation to Lord Śiva who gives absolute happiness. (Swami Dayananda Saraswati)
We will recite the small section from the source hymn of Yajur Veda, Rudram in which namaḥ śivāya features. We will then recite Oṃ namaḥ śivāya for the rest of the time.
You don’t need any previous experience in Sanskrit or chanting and this session will be accessible to all levels. Beginners are most welcome!
Session fee: 15EUR, booking obligatory.
